Description
Description
An LED underwater light of 18W delivering 1,620 lumens in bright cool white 4000K. The light, base and bracket are made of stainless steel (grade 304) and the light is waterproof to IP68 up to 3 metres deep. Ideal for beautifully lighting up a pond, fountain, waterfall or water feature in the evening. This item is sold per piece.
Please note: this underwater light runs on 24 volts. A 24V power supply is NOT included and must be purchased separately. Never connect the light directly to 230V; it will be destroyed instantly, and under water this is life-threatening. For this light you need a 24V power supply of at least 25W.
What's in the box, and what isn't?
- ✔ 1 × LED underwater light 18W with base, tilting bracket, built-in LED driver and moulded connection cable
- ✘ No 24V power supply (order separately)
- ✘ No extension cable, junction box or waterproof connectors
How to connect the underwater light
The light runs on 24V AC or 24V DC. The wiring is always: 230V → 24V power supply → underwater light. Connect the light to the 24V output of the power supply: brown = positive (+), blue = negative (−). If you use several lights on one power supply, connect them in parallel and add up the wattage of all the lights.
- Power supply rating: the light uses 18W. Allow at least 20% headroom, so a power supply of 25W or more.
- Always keep the power supply above and out of the water. Install it somewhere dry or, outdoors, choose a waterproof power supply (IP67) placed well away from the water's edge.
- Connections: preferably make connections above water, in a waterproof junction box. If a connection has to be under water or in the ground after all, use an IP68 connector.
- Long cable runs? At 24V, the voltage drops over long distances. For cable runs of more than 10 metres, use a thicker cable (for example 2 × 1.5 mm²).
Placement in 4 steps
- Choose the spot on the bottom of the pond or fountain, no more than 3 metres deep. The light is Ø190 mm and 220 mm high including the base.
- Stand the light on a firm, level surface, such as a paving slab or stone. You can also screw it down through the holes in the base.
- Aim the light using the bracket: it tilts 180° up and down and rotates 360°. Point it at the fountain jet, the waterfall or the plants.
- Run the cable to the edge, make the connection to the 24V power supply above water and check that the light comes on.
These wiring and installation tips are intended as advice. Installation is always at your own responsibility; if in doubt, have it done by a qualified electrician.
Built for under water
The light has been tested to the European standard for luminaires for swimming pools and similar applications (EN 60598-2-18) and is waterproof to IP68 up to 3 metres deep. The light surface is covered with tempered glass with a rubber sealing ring, the driver is potted watertight, and the light, base, bracket and screws are made of stainless steel 304. If you use it in a swimming pool, always have the installation carried out by a qualified electrician, with a safety transformer.
What light effect do you get?
The light delivers 1,620 lumens in cool white 4000K: fresh, bright light that makes water look extra clear and lively. The 30° beam angle gives a narrow, focused beam that reaches far, even through water, ideal for lighting a fountain jet or waterfall from below (see the light simulation). The clearer the water, the better the effect. This wattage is ideal for medium-sized ponds, fountains and waterfalls, and for lighting up waterside planting.
