Square black recessed spotlights are for those who love a sleek, bold look: the straight lines and dark colour turn every spot into a graphic accent. This set consists of 20 complete square recessed spotlights in black, each with a tiltable recessed fitting, a dimmable 5W GU10 LED spot in warm white (2700K) and a GU10 lamp holder with connecting wire.

20 spots: how much space do you light?

With twenty spots you have enough for a spacious living room, an open kitchen with dining area or an office, or you can spread them over, say, the kitchen and hallway. As a rule of thumb, keep 1 to 1.2 metres between the spots and about 50 to 60 cm from the wall; with twenty spots that gets you roughly to 20 to 30 m². Together the 20 spots deliver 8,000 lumens at a total consumption of just 100W. With 35W halogen spots that would be 700W.

Light colour: warm white 2700K

The 2700K light is warm white, comparable to a classic incandescent bulb. It makes a room feel soft and inviting, which is why it is the most popular light colour for the living room, bedroom, dining area and hallway. In a bathroom, too, warm white creates a relaxed atmosphere in the evening. Each spot gives you 400 lumens with a beam angle of 35° and a colour rendering (CRI) of more than 80.

Look and finish

The square shape matches the straight lines in your interior, such as tiles, cabinet fronts and ceiling seams. The black finish stands out nicely against a white or light ceiling and blends in on a dark or wooden ceiling. The recessed fitting measures 86 × 86 × 25 mm, is made of coated steel and is tiltable, so you can aim the light at, for example, a painting, a wall or a worktop.

Dimmable

The spots in this set have an aluminium housing and are dimmable with a triac dimmer (leading-edge or trailing-edge). Choose an LED-compatible dimmer with a low minimum load; then you can adjust the light smoothly and without flickering, from bright task lighting to mood lighting.

Installation

Saw or drill a hole of 70 to 75 mm for each spot. Switch off the power, connect the lamp holder to the 230V wiring, fit the lamp holder onto the GU10 spot and slide the spot into the recessed fitting. The spring clips then hold the fitting firmly in the ceiling. Suitable for plasterboard and suspended ceilings, among others; make sure there is enough room above the ceiling for the spot and the lamp holder. If you are unsure about the wiring, have it done by an electrician.
