GU10 LED spots: dimmable, warm white and daylight white

Looking for a GU10 LED spot to replace your halogen spotlight? GU10 is the familiar spot with a bayonet fitting: you twist it in a quarter turn. The lamps run directly on 230 volts, so you don't need a transformer, and they fit almost all recessed and surface-mounted spotlights with a GU10 socket.

Which GU10 LED spot suits your halogen spotlight?

• 5W to 6W LED replaces roughly 45 to 50W halogen.
• 8W LED gives about 680 lumens and replaces 60W.

Dimmable or not dimmable

Dimming only works with a GU10 spot that is marked as dimmable, on a dimmer that is suitable for LED. Light colour and beam angle

Warm white (2700K to 3000K) is cosy for living room and bedroom, cool white (4000K) is neutral for kitchen and workspace and daylight white (6000K) is very bright. There are spots with a narrow and a wide beam angle, such as 60° and 120°. More explanation is in LED colour temperature.
