You can use any GU10 spotlight that runs on 230V for this spotlight. Choose a 5W LED GU10 for energy-efficient lighting, or a more powerful 7W version for more light output. Pay attention to the light color: warm white 3000K for atmospheric garden lighting or cool white 4000K for bright accent lighting.
Can I leave this spotlight outside all year round?
Yes, with IP54 protection, this spotlight is splash-proof and dust-resistant. The aluminum housing is weatherproof and can withstand rain, wind, and snow. For optimal protection, avoid placing the spotlight where it will be directly exposed to strong water jets or where it will be permanently submerged.
How do I stick the spike into the ground?
The spike spotlight comes with a ground spike that you can easily insert into soft soil or grass. Push the spike firmly into the ground until the fixture is stable. In hard ground, you can pre-drill a hole first. The spotlight is 42.5 cm high, part of which disappears into the ground.
Can I adjust the light direction after installation?
Yes, the spotlight is tiltable so you can adjust the light to your preference. You can direct the light both upwards and downwards, ideal for illuminating plants, facades, trees, or garden ornaments. Simply turn the spotlight's head in the desired direction and it will stay in that position.
How long is the connection cord?
The spotlight comes with a 1.5-meter power cord and plug. This gives you flexibility in positioning the spotlight relative to the wall socket. For longer distances, you can use an outdoor extension cord with at least the same IP rating.
Do I need to ground the spotlight during installation?
Yes, this spotlight is safety class I and must be grounded. The aluminum housing is connected to the ground via the ground wire (yellow-green wire) for protection against electric shock. Make sure your electrical outlet or outdoor lighting is properly grounded.
Can I replace the lamp if it breaks?
Yes, you simply unscrew the front of the spotlight to access the GU10 socket. This allows you to replace the bulb without tools. This makes maintenance easy, and you can always choose a different light color or intensity without buying a new spotlight.
How many spotlights can I connect to one socket?
That depends on the wattage of your GU10 bulbs and the capacity of your outlet. A standard 230V outlet can handle a maximum of 3680W (16A). When using 5W LED spotlights, you can theoretically connect hundreds of spotlights, but in practice, we recommend a maximum of 10-15 spotlights per outlet for safety reasons.
What is the difference between IP54 and IP65?
IP54 means protection against dust and splash water from all directions, suitable for sheltered outdoor locations. IP65 offers complete dustproofing and protection against water jets, suitable for exposed locations. For garden lighting under a canopy or among plants, IP54 is sufficient.
Can I also mount this spotlight on the wall?
This spike spotlight is primarily designed for ground mounting with the included spike. For wall mounting, you'll need a special wall bracket, which is not included. If you want to mount the spotlight on the wall, choose a wall spotlight with a GU10 fitting specifically designed for wall mounting.
