How to create a lighting plan

  1. Give your project a name and create a room, for example your living room, office or workshop.
  2. Choose the room type and shape. The lighting plan immediately sets the right light level, ceiling height and working plane. Drag the corners if your room is not rectangular.
  3. Choose your lighting: LED panels, tri-proof fittings, linear lights, high bays or a track system with spots. With Auto fill the lighting plan calculates how many you need and distributes them neatly across the ceiling.
  4. Check the light. You see the average lux, the uniformity, the power and the annual consumption. The colour map shows where the light falls; in 3D you really see it.
  5. Add more rooms and order everything at once, or share your plan as a link.

Which lighting can you choose?

  • LED panels for a suspended ceiling or surface mounting: 60x60, 62x62, 30x120 and more, in warm white, cool white and daylight white. Ideal for offices, classrooms and practice rooms.
  • Tri-proof fittings (IP65), waterproof and dustproof, for garages, workshops, storage rooms, stables and car parks.
  • Suspended linear lights for workstations, meeting rooms, shops and hospitality.
  • High bays, round (UFO) and linear, for halls, warehouses and sports halls with a high ceiling.
  • 3-phase track system with track spots for accent lighting in shops, showrooms and living rooms.

How much lux do you need per room?

These are the values the lighting plan uses by default (light level normal). For each room you can also choose low or high.

Draw per piece, order per box

You draw panels and other fittings per piece, exactly where you want them. Ordering is per package: the lighting plan finds the best-value combination of single pieces and boxes for your whole project and puts the surplus in the list as spares. With a larger order you automatically get a volume discount.

How does the lighting plan calculate?

The lighting plan uses the lumen method. The average illuminance is the total luminous flux of the fittings, multiplied by the utilisation factor and the maintenance factor, divided by the floor area. The utilisation factor depends on the room index (area, perimeter and height above the working plane) and on the colour of the walls and ceiling. This way a room with corners is also calculated correctly. Just want to know quickly how many lamps you need? Then use the light calculator. Want to know how much you save? Frequently asked questions

Is the lighting plan free?

Yes. You create the lighting plan for free and without an account. Your plan is saved in your own browser and you can share it as a link, email it or save it as a PDF. You only pay for the lighting you order.

How much lux do I need?

That depends on the room. A living room needs about 150 lux, a kitchen 300 lux, an office or workstation 500 lux and a warehouse about 150 lux. In the lighting plan you choose low, normal or high per room, and you see straight away whether you achieve it.

Can I draw a room with corners, like an L-shape?

Yes. You choose a rectangle, L, U or T shape and drag the corners into place in steps of 10 centimetres. With the plus in the middle of a wall you add an extra corner. You see the length of every wall.

Can I put several rooms in one project?

Yes. You give your project a name and add as many rooms as you like, each with its own name and type. At the bottom you see the lux and power per room, and one parts list for the whole project.

Why do I order more panels than I draw?

Panels, tri-proof fittings, linear lights and high bays are sold per package. You draw exactly what you need; the lighting plan chooses the best-value combination of packages and puts the surplus in the list as spares. Handy if one breaks later or if you want to add one.

How accurate is the lux calculation?

The lighting plan calculates with the lumen method, just like lighting consultants do: the luminous flux of the fittings, the shape and height of the room, the colour of the walls and ceiling and a maintenance factor. It is a good indication of the average on the working plane. For an official lighting calculation according to the standard you need a report from lighting software.

Can I combine a track system and panels?

Yes. In each room you can mix panels, tri-proof fittings, linear lights, high bays and a 3-phase track system with track spots. The light of everything together counts in the calculation.

Can I view my lighting plan in 3D?

Yes. With the 3D button you see your room with the lighting and the furnishings. You can look around or walk through the room, and switch between evening and daylight.
